North America Nebula
The North America and Pelican Nebulas over the center of Lancaster.
This one is a composite of two different photos. The photo of Lancaster was taken after a big rain storm when the farm field was flooded, I made sure to take the photo where these Nebula would actually be rising in the sky. The photo of the sky was taken from my backyard. I had the camera pointed at the sky for over 5 hours to get the color and detail of the nebulae to show up, this time of year this part of the sky also rises around 3 am, so I would wake up early to put the camera out. The sky is larger than what it would be in real life, and rotated a bit, but I like the effect of combining a deep sky object with a foreground in its approximate true to life location.
The North America Nebula is the bottom red nebula, can you pick out the Gulf of Mexico? The Pelican is on top of that, it's a bit harder to make out, but the beak of the bird is located across from where Florida would be. The bright star at the top of the photo is Deneb, and this is all part of the Cygnus Constellation.
