I started my run on South Royalston Road just to the east of the Newton Reservoir. There are four good hills that I was able to climb out here. The first was Round Top which is very close to the parking area on Bearsden Road. The trail up this hill is very steep, but also very well maintained. Next up is Sheep Rock which is very steep if you go up the small singe track trail on its north side or nice and gradual on a wide trail on the east side. You're rewarded at the top with a nice view from a wooden platform. The next hill I hit up was Bemis Hill. The trail to the top from the west was nice, steep but runnable, the trail heading down to the east was almost non-existent. I was only able to follow it by finding B's painted on trees to mark the way, it is also extremely steep. The last hill I went up was Observation Hill, this is another good hill that gives you quite the work out on your way to Willis Road in Phillipston. I think I was somewhere around mile 11 when I went up this hill and it really kicked my butt.
